Finnish minimalist techno group Pan sonic are among the most active and well-known artists from that country's midget experimental techno resistance, and the offset to reach clap at an international level. Pursuing the scraggy edges of minimal techno and hard-core, the grouping have earned an abiding association with industrial and disturbance medicine through their incorporation of antiseptic production techniques and power tool electronics, landing them in 1995 on the English Mute label's experimental subsidiary company Blast First! (most of their catalog to date has since appeared there). The affinity lay more at the surface, however, as Pan sonic are better understood as a hit 'tween Jeff Mills and Mike Ink; dance-based electronic music with a maximum of impact, realised through a minimum of foreign item. Known for junking together studio apartment equipment from spare parts and ancient analogue rubble, Pan sonic's search for the untested in techno is their compositional M.O., placing them closer to the music's Detroit roots than is much understood.


Formed in Turku in the early '90s, Pan sonic began as the duet of Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisänen. As with most Finnish techno groups, Pan sonic's earlier beginnings lay with the Sahko/Puu imprint, the focus of the Northern European techno scenery and home to such artists as Kirlian, Philus, Ø (Vainio's solo guise), Mono Junk, and Jimi Tenor. Pan sonic released its self-titled debut single through Sahko in 1994 earlier organism joined by third member Sami Salo and landing a narrow with Blast First! the following class. The group's first BF! acquittance, Vakio, was a full-length CD/triple-10" boxed typeset featuring the same brand of furtive, passively aggressive techno, though with a fuller, more thought-out well-grounded. Soon afterwards Vakio's release in 1995, Salo left the group (ostensibly to join the Army), and Pan sonic's subsequent releases -- the Osasto EP and the group's 1997 sophomore long-player, Kulma -- noted his absence by their relatively harder, less subtle tone.


Pan transonic added live carrying out to their regular repertoire in 1996, playing a number of gigs throughout Europe and Japan, as well as touring with gothic rock group the Swans. Vainio stirred to London in 1997, where, in improver to his chronic commitment to Pan sonic, he continues to record as Ø (his third base full-length under that name, Olento, was issued on Sahko precisely prior to Kulma's release). At an age when almost boys' lives are consumed by the likes of pubescence and G.I. Joe, the members of Serial Joe were busy edifice their music careers. Ever since the rock band north Korean won the 1998 Much Music Video Award for Best Independent Video ("Skidrow"), their heavy act gainful off. Awards and nominations began rolling in and attention for the Newmarket, Ontario, Canada-based ring has been gaining unbelievable momentum. After unrelentingly playing in their parents' basements since 1997, Serial Joe decided it was meter to go public. In 1999, they received a YTV Achievement Award for Best Band and were nominative for the Much Music Video Award for Best Rock Video ("Mistake"). In 2000, they won a Much Music Video FACT Award for Best Video ("Deep") (the award was presented by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of Kiss during a tour with the famed glam rock band). 2000 proven to be an regular better class for the young banding; bassist Jon Davidson was 17, vocalist/guitarist Ryan Dennis was 17, guitar player Ryan Stever was 18, and drummer Dan Stadnicki was 17. Serial Joe has earned a number of prestigious nominations, including a 2000 Much Music Award nomination (People's Choice Award for Best Canadian Band), a Juno nomination for Best New Band, and a Gemini Award nomination for Best Specialty Show (YTV Achievement Awards, tenth Anniversary Show). In the summer of 2000, the striation released its second album, Serial Joe (Aquarius Records), on which they got a chance to work with Dave "Rave" Ogilvie, manufacturer of such artists as Marilyn Manson, Jane's Addiction, and Nine Inch Nails. Serial Joe's debut record album, 2000's Face Down, with Aquarius/DKD Group, has gone atomic number 78.

Sex Pistols hint at new album after Isle of Wight appearance

Isle of Wight Festival 2008 headliners Sex Pistols have hinted that they are working on a new album.

Speaking to BBC 6Music, frontman John Lydon wouldn't give a definite answer about rumours that the band were set to head to the studio, but hinted that they were considering an album of new material.

"It's a nice rumour [that the band will record another album] and it might possibly be true we are attempting to," he said. "It's like all things Sex Pistols � it's riddled in chaos.

"You know, who knows what the future will hold? Maybe no future. So far I've proved that wrong. I've got a splendid future."

The Streets to split after fifth album

Mike Skinner has revealed that the fifth Streets album will be their last.

In a posting on his MySpace blog, Skinner noted that the group's upcoming LP - their fourth - would be titled Everything Is Borrowed and would have a "peaceful, positive vibe" in comparison with 2006's The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living.

He explained: "If you like The Streets you are about to experience the peaceful, positive vibes that comes after a disturbing work such as the last you heard."

Skinner added that the fifth and final record would be similar to Lou Reed's Berlin.

"The final Streets album (the fifth one) will be dark and futuristic. This could not be further from the album you're about to hear, but it's what is on my mind at the moment. I feel inspired by the synthesizer exhibition we just visited in Graz [Austria] after the gig we just did."
